We are a small animal practice with particular focus on dogs and cats but with an interest in serving all of your small pet related needs. On site, you will find your pet's premium pet food and accessories in our well stocked vet shop. We take pride in providing a caring environment for your family pets combined with quality veterinary services.
In addition to our clinic services, Ruimsig Veterinary Clinic offers a grooming and boarding service to the surrounding community.
Ruimsig Veterinary Clinic is situated in the heart of the expanding suburb of Ruimsig, Roodepoort, Gauteng. Our front staff receive continuous product training, and as such can advise you on products sold in our vet shop.

Our front staff receive continuous product training, and as such can advise you on products sold in our vet shop. Vet shop on site stocking quality collars, leads, beds, bowls, pet toys and accessories. Collection and delivery service for the clinic, vet shop and grooming parlour. All our staff are enthusiastic, dedicated to providing high quality, loving care to your pet and committed to c ontinuously seeking to improve their knowledge and skills as well as striving for the best management practices. Dr Sue qualified at Onderstepoort in 1986 and worked in a mixed practice for a few months before moving to the Northern Cape for two years. After another year in small animal practice, she and Dr Dave took over the vet practice in Bromhof. Three years later they moved to Bolivia in South America, to work as missionaries until opening the clinic in Ruimsig. Dr Sue appreciates the value of alternative treatments as an adjunct to conven tional veterinary medicine and has a particular interest in pet wellness. When not at the clinic Dr Sue enjoys being in her garden or walking her dogs in the park. Dr Dave qualified at Onderstepoort in 1986 and after a two year s tint in the Northern Cape, spent some time in mixed animal practice on the West of Johannesburg before taking over Bromhof Vet Clinic. Three years later they moved to Bolivia, where, among other things Dr Dave was called on to help poor rural farmers with their animal health needs. This ended with their return to South Africa and the eventual opening of Ruimsig Vet Clinic. Dr Dave takes care of most of the administrative details of running the clinic and enjoys interaction with pets and owners alike! When not in the clinic, one is likely to find Dr Dave outdoors somewhere, watching his sons play sport or on his mountain bike on some dusty trail. Dr Dave & Dr Sue have three sons who are involved in the life an d activities of Ruimsig Vet Clinic, making it a truly family business! Our friendly and efficient front staff receive ongoing product training and are able to help you choose the correct diets and other accessories for your family pet from our practice shop. Graham is a full time student at the Baptist Theological College in Randburg and works part time at the clinic. His passion is to play drums which he does at every opportunity that he can. Graham spent his whole school career in an international school in Bolivia where he and his family were living at the time. He enjoys playing soccer and coaching sport and is an armchair enthusiast of a number of international sports including rugby. He has a soft spot for animals and can often be seen playing with one of the cats or dogs. Tim is a full time student at UJ studying Emergency Medical Care and works part time at the clinic. Tim rises to any challenge placed before him and has a passion for adventure. He enjoys any kind of sport and currently can been seen on his mountain bike when he has the opportunity. Tim is married to Lisa, a school teacher and they have a Beardie and two dogs, Snowy and Freddie. While Ben's main responsiblities at the moment are to get an education, like most 13 year olds he likes to be out and about doing other things! Ben loves animals and walking and taking care of hospital patients under the direct supervision of Dr Sue and Dr Dave!
