Disc Machining, cleaning & bedding-in new brake pads: what to do and what not to do, understand the concepts. Understand the basic principles of a dynamometer brake test and how to interpret its report. The maximum life of a disc brake rotor is achieved when it reaches what we call the minimum thickness. Safeline are the only brake pad manufacturer in South Africa to be both E-Mark and SABS certified and now include free brake accessory kits with selected part numbers. Safeline have a strong sales and marketing team that are customer focussed and able to offer comprehensive product and branding support. Our exciting customer promotions reward our customers for their loyalty. Our brakes are available through leading retailers. The Safeline brake disc range aims to provide a complementary product offering to our extensive range of OEM quality brake pads. Ensure that calipers, pins, slides, shims, discs, wheel hubs and all other related parts are free of dirt, rust, old grease and oils before reassembly. This can prevent contaminated brake fluid from entering the ABS module, which is costly to replace. Slowly pump brake pedal a few times until pressure returns. If pedal feels spongy, check for air in the hydraulic system. If dirty or sticky, clean thoroughly and apply thin film of graphite grease, to allow caliper to slide freely over the pins. Refit new pads into caliper, noting correct inner/outer pad orientation. Ensure the pad can slide freely in the caliper without sticking. There are also special tools commercially available for this purpose. If disc thickness is less than the recommended thickness, replace discs.
