What you should know about WIZE EYES OPTOMETRISTS

Optometrist in Roodepoort

Wize Eyes Optometrists is a popular group focused on assisting people who are suffering from reduced or damaged eye sight. The group is constantly expanding with branches opening throughout Roodepoort and surrounding areas. Wize Eyes Optometrists employs the cutting edge technology of Zeiss lenses to offer unparalleled viewing ease and results. If the sharpest vision is needed for your job, then RGP lenses could be advised. And if you enjoy outdoor life or travel frequently, these activities would need to be considered. Then you could manage the extra care and additional visits required for extended-wear lenses. In order for our eyes to be able to see, light rays must be bent or refracted by the tear film, the cornea and the lens so they can focus on the retina, the layer of light-sensitive cells lining the back of the eye. As a result, light rays focus in front of the retina instead of on it. The lens of the eye changes its shape easily, allowing you to focus on objects both close and far away. Since nearly everyone develops presbyopia, if a person also has myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) or astigmatism, the conditions will combine. It is generally believed that as we age, changes in the lens’s proteins make the lens more rigid and less flexible over time. As the lens becomes less flexible and able to change shape as easily as it used to, the eye has a harder time focusing on close objects. One of the most obvious signs of presbyopia is the need to hold reading materials at arm’s length in order to focus properly. As a result, light rays focus beyond the retina instead of on it. Reading glasses are a very common and easy way to correct presbyopia symptoms, and are typically worn just during close work such as reading, sewing, etc. Progressive lenses are similar to bifocal lenses, but they offer a more gradual visual transition between the two prescriptions, with no visible line between them. For people with significant hyperopia, vision can be blurry for objects at any distance, near or far. With focusing (accommodation), children’s eyes are able to bend the light rays and place them directly on the retina. As long as the farsightedness is not too severe, hyperopic children will have clear vision for seeing objects at a distance and up close. Normally, the cornea and lens are smooth and curved equally in all directions, helping to focus light rays sharply onto the retina at the back of your eye. When the shape of the lens is distorted, you have lenticular astigmatism. As a result of either type of astigmatism, your vision for both near and far objects appears blurry or distorted. While adults with a higher degree of astigmatism may realize their vision isn’t as good as it should be, children who have astigmatism symptoms may not be aware they have this condition, and are unlikely to complain about blurred or distorted vision. But uncorrected astigmatism can seriously impact a child’s ability to achieve in school and sports.
